REACH Project
Relevant Energy Advice for your Community and Home

732010_103628_1.jpgThe REACH Project is intended to make energy conservation and energy efficiency personally relevant. The project is based on three primary tasks: designing customized Neighborhood Education Campaigns, training a team of volunteer Sustainability Advisors, and deploying a Mobile EnergyCenter.

Customized Neighborhood Education Campaigns will be designed to promote appropriate messages and solutions to residents of target areas. Messages and recommended solutions will be based on 1) building type (e.g. age, size, construction), 2) consumer traits (e.g. available funds for conservation products and upgrades), and 3) specific neighborhood factors (e.g. climate zone).

We will train a team of volunteer Sustainability Advisors (following the successful Master Gardeners program) who will support and extend the project’s educational efforts and campaigns in target communities.

Our MobileEnergy Center is a portable collection of innovative educational exhibits and displays. The Center will make appearances at community gatherings, events, farmers markets, etc. to engage the public in interactive dialogues about how to decrease their energy and resource use in practical, cost-appropriate ways for their neighborhood, hometype, budget and circumstance. Volunteer Sustainability Advisors and topic specialists (e.g. contractors and vendors) will guide visitors through an individualized process to design a household action plan and understand the steps involved in implementing the plan.
